Here are the answers to some common problems
I don't have Microsoft Office on my home PC
1) You can install Office 365 for free on up to 5 PCs using your soka-u.jp account: (link)
2) Graduating? Hate Microsoft? Word runs too slow on your laptop? There are free alternatives that work fine:
- Libre Office: (link)
- Google Drive: (link)
- AbiWord (lightweight)https://www.abisource.com/
- However, be careful:
- Do NOT send me a Google Drive link from soka-u.jp - it doesn't work.
- Instead "Export" an Office file (docx) and EMAIL it
- From Libre Office, do NOT send me an ODT file. "Save As" docx and send that.
- Sometimes the format is wrong. For important work (e.g. A3, B4, C4):
- download the docx
- open it an a PC on campus.
- check that Google/OpenOffice hasn't done anything strange
- Tables and figures especially sometimes go wrong.
